The answers I have read regarding the identity problem are all very interesting. However, it seems to me, based on my interpretation of these answers, that one has to have "faith" in the fact that indeed, the next version of yourself will indeed be you as there is no way to prove this either way. If one allows a device to destroy the original and produce a "copy" elsewhere, that person allowing this to happen had better be sure that their theories are correct. Is it not possible that we do not know all that there is to know about the nature of our identity?Are we so sure that being reconstructed by a device is the same as waking from sleep? For those like us who place the greatest importance on longevity and protecting one's life, that's a pretty risky venture if you ask me. (and yes I know that no one is asking me) :) For now, I feel much safer with the concept of being frozen, then taking my chances with replication.
