X-Message-Number: 2094 From: (Thomas Donaldson) Subject: CRYONICS.more.on.immortal.mice Date: Sat, 10 Apr 93 22:38:31 PDT Hi again! About the immortal mice described in the latest NATURE: the article seems to be quite wrong. I've just come back from Stanford, where the Medical Library is open until 10:00 tonight. The journals referred to, at least to judge from their absence in at least two indices of periodicals (Ulrich's International Periodicals Index) either do not exist or are EXTREMELY obscure. There is one reference to a 1982 article in NATURE, written anonymously, about the same stuff. That article is the only one I could find; it is a news article rather than a paper, and refers to some of the same journals as this latest one. The Institute where these people are claimed to work is not in Tarzana, CA, nor is the college (or any college) which houses this Institute. I am writing to NATURE itself about this. I've always enjoyed the Dedalus column, even back when it appeared in NEW SCIENTIST. But this article purports to be true, a different thing altogether. Ho hum ... didn't I say once that life was hard? Best and long life to all, Thomas Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2094
