George,

I deliberately posted it _because_ of the relevance - if you don't 
think your own survival is relevant (not to mention thousands of other 
innocent people) then you are not thinking clearly.

The problem with USians is that they have a lifeboat mentality - they 
are rich (at the expense of the rest of the world), want to keep it 
that way, and when it comes to the crunch (probably created by bad US 
foreign policy) they are prepared to sacrifice everyone else so that 
they can survive themselves.  This is a generalisation of course - not 
all USians think like that, if they think about it all.

 From a cryonicist's point of view this is incredibly myopic.  Everyone 
should have the right to live as long as they like but this will not be 
possible (even for the rich) if the world's only superpower is intent 
on creating wars (which will create more terrorism) for the sake of 
corporate greed and obscuring domestic economic/political problems.
