Time travel history.

I have said before that time is not a dimension, only a dimensional parameter
for global symmetries such U(1) in Special Relativity. On the other hand, by
Gell'Mann principle: "In physics, everything not forbidden is mandatory", if
continuous time can't be patched to another epoch, discontinuous instants
could be related to different epochs. As a joke, I have said that time travel
is bad sci-fi or CIA-fi. There is the complete story as I know it.

It starts in Haiti sometime in the 19th century. A traveler (don't know his
name) explored the country and the life and religion of the citizens, namely
the woodoo. He was told about woodoo spirits, including the fearsome "tonton
macoutes." For people here, macoutes was not a legend, they was a tangible
reality. The explorer was show a proof: A macoute cranium: Something looking
as a rat head but scaled up to bear size. At that epoch, fossils where a
novelty with the discovery of dinosaur bones in England. Haitian insisted
that some had seen living macoutes.

We know now that Haiti-Dominican Island is part of a larger island realized
only when an ice age reduces the ocean level. Sometime, storms in Amazon or
Central America uproot some trees and animals are sent to sea on these
"boats." Rodents can live here for some time, eating the tree bark. Some have
reached the Caribbean large island and evolved here to produce some giant
forms. At the last hot era before the actual one, ocean rise broke the large
island into smaller ones, similar to what we see today. That was the signal
for the collapse of the "super-roden"world. We know that Chinese dragons come
from the many fossil dinosaur bones found by farmers in some regions, so the
macoute legend could have been built the same way from fossil remains. For
local peoples, the bones would have been proof of a living beast only some
years before. Another possibility, is that some "macoutes" survived until the
arrival of the first Caraib Indians and that these would have transmitted a
tradition about them. When the last Caraibs meet the African imported slaves,
they could have transmitted that tradition...

Back to home, the explorer wrote a book and the physicist Oliver Heaviside
got a copy. It seems Heaviside took the Macoute story seriously and found a
way so that modern people could see "living fossils." He had a very bad
opinion about his contemporary, including scientists, so he published nothing
about that in science journals. Some time from that, Nikolas Tesla
demonstrated in public some of his inventions. Heaviside attended at one of
the show and was impressed. He meet Tesla and they had some talks on advanced
ideas, including the macoute problem. Back to New York, Tesla built a machine
using the Heaviside idea. The results where somewhat distressing: The device
worked as a weapon, inducing electroshock-like effects to nearby observers.
From there, Tesla got a lifelong phobic reaction to anything spherical (a
part of the system may have been a sphere...).

He don't stopped here yet and build another machine, using it seems the
Mikailovich. Filipov's idea about spin 4 interferometric systems (He spoke
largely at that time about the possibility to transmit all over the Earth
electric energy without cables. That has been interpreted as radio-wave
transmission, but the original writing don't matches that idea). It seems the
Filipov-Heaviside solution worked, and as there was some discourse at the
time about Martians, Tesla said he had contacted some "extraterrestrial."
From the historical basis of this system, he was more probably in the time
contact business. After some experiments, there was a "problem" and he never
more used that technology. At his death in 1943, all his paper where stolen
by some intelligence service, they are "confidential" even now. What is
public domain has been combed, so that everything about these systems has
been removed. Surely, some thefts have made some copies of the Tesla system,
but they seem to have encountered too "the" problem.

Can we guess at the Heaviside idea? Put in modern form, it could be something
as that: Assume we build a relativistic event as the trivial representation
of a supersymetric simple group, that would let a right handed spin field
whose the 0-form defects would make a hyperbolic Lorentz cones system. That
geometry would cover the "elsewhere" region and so allows time travel.
Because SUSY groups are local entities and SR ones are global, only a set of
instants could be linked to two or more epochs. A Regge trajectory extension
of the basic inverted spin space would realize the "meet macoute world." This
may be seen as a zero dimensional space with zero dimensional attached phase
space, so there is no room for time. If the system is used at two epochs, the
two uses get superimposed, making a kind of time communication. A brief set
of such snapshots would make a kind of "movie film." The Filipov-Heaviside
solution would use full blown SUSY, good luck with it! That system can work
only if kept secret, because only the macoute version is manageable and when
known, it can be fooled by the full SUSY. No doubt, after stem cells, the
next forbidden science will be SUSY theory.

To have made something as that at the end of the 19th century ,explains why
Olivers Heavside took the scientists of the epoch in poor estimate, against
his genius they was really dumb.
