X-Message-Number: 21482 Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 08:09:15 -0500 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: CryoNet #21475 - #21481 For Robert Ettinger and Charles Platt: It should be obvious that Ettinger was taking a line favorable to his Cryonics Institute in his discussion. I've heard some Alcor people doing the same. He may not be skillful at this, but you too are taking a similar line in defense of Alcor. This gets us all exactly nowhere. As an instance, I have tried to follow (given that it isn't published anywhere) Greg's work on vitrification. His experiments do achieve vitrification of large areas of tissue, with some areas remaining unvitrified. (If anyone knows of an experiment comparable to what's done with human patients, please tell me). It is reasonable, but not friendly, to think that some areas in the brains of Alcor's patients MAY not vitrify. Vitrification is not a completed, fully understood process by Alcor or anyone else. And given that we haven't perfected vitrification, we all might have our chances bettered if Alcor and the Cryonics Institute decided to work in cooperation, particularly by sharing their data --- of course with confidentiality agreements worked out beforehand. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=21482
