D.N.Makovetskii describes in cond-mat/0303318 some experiments with a phonon
laser or phaser, working in the GHz range. Given the acoustic velocity, this
gives a wavelenght similar to light in the electromagnetics spectrum.

This article is an entry in the literature on the subject of phaser and
saser, their terahertz kins.

I have said that phonon intensity interferometer may be the best prospect for
a small molecular level brain reader. This paper gives at taste about how a
phonon generator can be built and how phonons are detected.
