Hi Steve,

(Great articles, good points!)

A Libertarian, as I understand it, should not have any objection to Alcor
being free to run as a proper business. Alcor is not a government. Forgive
me if I misunderstood your point. Alcor should not be made into a
"democracy", an inefficient and potentially ineffective business model
versus the task at hand. What was done was pragmatic. It was a good and
commendable thing you did.

I also do not think a "Libertarian" should have any objection to your
setting requirements to ride in your privately owned vehicle. It is not
public transportation, after all.

(Warning, huge generalizations about to occur!) I think generally that
Republicans are better than Democrats at decreasing taxes and conducting war
and poor at preserving individual rights. Democrats are better than
Republicans at protecting freedoms and rights, but poor at decreasing taxes.
If a Libertarian is against big government, and for maximal practical
individual freedom, it is not reasonable to commit to unilaterally vote for
either of these party's candidates. At the voting polls, I find I have to
balance losing freedom versus losing money when I consider Republican versus
Democrat. In any case, one has to be... pragmatic when choosing a
candidate.

I do not think libertarianism is worth much without the capacity for
pragmatism. Though, I suppose the same could be said for any ideology or
political philosophy.

Best regards,
