Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2003 14:43:47 -0600 While it would be nice to be reanimated from cryonic suspension to find a fortune awaiting me from the trust fund I left behind, I do not think that this is either likely or necessary. In my own case, the cost of cryonics (neurosuspension option, insurance policy premiums and annual dues) is just barely affordable, since I also have a wife and kids to support and I am not financially well-off. I consider my voyage to the future to be similar to the voyage of penniless immigrants to America. For nearly all of them, America provided the opportunity for a better life. And for some of them, who had the right combination of brains and guts and perseverance, it was the chance to make a fortune. I'll take my chances in the future even if there is no trust fund awaiting me. Getting there--to that future where the science and technology exist to revive me--is what really counts.
