If you're archiving data on CD that's pertinent to life extension, you
probably care how long the CD's last.  

This page says that gold-colored phthalocyanine CD-R's and dark-blue
metallized AZO CD-R's are better than blue or blue-green or green
cyanine CD-R's:

This page says glue-on labels are not good, and writing on the CD with
a felt-tip pen is better.  Keeping them dry and cool is probably more
important than the dye, and put them in an envelope or jewel case
instead of letting them roll around in a folder:
