Seems that the transhumanists discovered there were rather large groups existing in Russia that shared their perspective. I guess you could call it a "positive residue of communism" insofar as Russia's institutionalized disbelief in traditional religion laid the foundation for rational acceptance of science being accepted as the only rational hope for immortality. Those who have posted here regarding the possibility of creating a "church" or a "religion" based on cryonics might find a new book by Brian Alexander, "Rapture:How Biotech Became The New Religion", to be interesting. --Boundary_(ID_8E93042DETufCM6wSmIwEw) Content-type: text/html; charset=Windows-1252 [ AUTOMATICALLY SKIPPING HTML ENCODING! ] Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=22836
