I think it is a value that western culture used to have, but which has been declining over the past 50-100 years. Also, my girlfriend, who is Chinese, has told me that many Chinese people would not find it strange to desire longevity or immortality. Apparently, it is something that many powerful people in history have tried to achieve. And although some of them certainly tried grotesque means (sacrificing virgins and whatnot), I do no think the goal is viewed negatively. -Eric Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=22884
