Subject: CRYONICS Cryonics research

I just returned from California, where I spent four days
visiting Alcor and attending the conference sponsored by Saul
Kent. The conference attracted around 35 people and addressed
some substantial issues in cryonics, many of which have also
been discussed here on the net. However, it was somewhat
inconclusive, partly because it was under-attended by Alcor's
directors. Steve Bridge was present at all times, but the
only other directors who turned up, briefly, were Allen Lopp
and Ralph Whelan. Keith Henson was unable to travel due to a
back condition. Hugh Hixon, Brenda Peters, Carlos Mondragon,
Mark Voelker, and Dave Pizer chose not to come.

Mike Darwin and Steve Harris gave an excellent presentation
describing their new program of research, which will be
financed by Twenty-First Century Medicine, a new corporation
which is currently offering shares. Mike and Steve
subsequently took a number of people on a guided tour of
their new facility. It has state-of-the-art equipment and is
meticulously maintained. I was very impressed.

I have made a personal decision to invest $10,000 in the new
corporation. This money comes out of some modest savings that
I've put aside over the years. As a self-employed writer,
I've never had a particularly high income. However, I feel
that the research which is being proposed has a better-than-
zero chance of making some real progress in areas of brain
cryopreservation and longevity. Since this is the ONLY
research program of its kind, it seems in my own self-
interest to support it.

I must add that I have no special interest or connection with
the corporation, other than as a potential share holder; and
my opinions here are strictly my own. If you're interested in
the corporation, you should write to Saul Kent via e-mail at
or via street mail at 16280
Whispering Spur, Riverside, CA 92504. He has copies of a
thorough prospectus which gives full details about the
offering.
