Subject: In defence of myself........

Although I half expected a response to my last post..... I didn't expect to
be flamed for it, but for the sake of others on the list I will resist the

temptation to cut 'n paste the 'I said' and 'he said' stuff and hopefully keep
it
brief.

To John Grigg who puts forward an argument in support of the Israelis based
on the Jewish cultural contribution to the western world...... I don't have a
problem with this and find myself in agreeement with most all he says. I am

not sure of the relevance the close relationship the US has with Israel and how
it effects my viewpoint as I am not a US citizen and I don't live in America,
but I do take his point. All said I find it cuts both ways as I would be
flamed on here if I were to attempt to justify the persecution of Jews by the
Romans by saying that it was ok to throw the Jews to the lions because of the
technological and cultural contribution the Romans made to Europe and North
Africa through out the time of their campaign.

To David Pizer..... I didn't have WW2 in mind when I made the remark about
Jews not getting on with the 'locals'. I was thinking more over the past 2
thousand years although, once again, I take your point about the way in which
they were treated by the Nazi's and in no way do I condone such actions under
any circumstances.

To Robert Ettinger........ I would suggest we wait until Ariel Sharon

gets around to answering the charges of 'war crimes' still pending against him,

although I think it unlikely they will ever get him in a court of law to do so.
In the meantime you are entitled to your view although I remain unconvinced
by your argument. Particularly when you have to resort to derogatory remarks
in order to make your point toward those who may disagree with you. I do

agree however when you say that this is not the list for detailed discussion of
political views. On this I would like to point out that it was 'Basie' who

asked the list as to why not everyone regards Israel as a 'friend'. My response
to 'Basie' was intended to be more of an observation than that of an opinion.

Don't misunderstand me, I am neither pro/anti Israeli or Palestinian.... I
just feel that their is a media 'spin' going on in the US right now. Either
that or we don't get the same news reels over here in Britain.

Regards to all......

Tim.
