Bryan,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It may well be something that
needs special consideration and planning for. This is due to the fact
that though it sounds good on the surface it could actually work
disastrously against us. Some of us have joined the Society for
Venturism, for instance, for many personal reasons but one in particular
is it's pseudo religious attribute as even recognized by the IRS. This
is for the purpose of avoiding autopsy.

At first level this new autopsy procedure is not really a help because
it is warming the brain we wish to avoid and in that neither this nor
the old kind allows us survival. Next there is now the possibility that
traditional religious objection based upon body maiming may disappear.
Before this, for instance, our "friend" Dani Kollen could object upon
the basis of his faith and hopefully, except perhaps in the case of
violence, avoid the delay that would melt his brain making cryonics
pointless. Owing to this line below in the article this may go away as
more and more people of Dani's faith and other faiths become slowly
acclimated to adopting this procedure in order to acquiesce to
government pressure.

[begin]
"It can also be used in cultures and situations where autopsy is not
tolerated by religion, such as in the traditional Jewish faith, or is
rejected by family members. Some people do not like the idea of autopsy."
[end]

The next huge problem is noted in the following.

[begin]
Time of death is established by measuring the changing brain metabolites
given off as the body decomposes."
[end]

This is terribly bad for us. This would mean that even an attemopt to
meet halfway and perhaps agree to a non invasive autopsy so long as the
brain was allowed to be chilled would be made moot by their need to let
the brain rot for their time of death measurement.

This looks extremely dangerous for us. Those not privy to nor carring
about the details of cryonics procedures and needs would think they
could get around our objection to autopsy with this alleged 'kinder
gentler' version, when in fact it would be just as bad as before. It's a
wolf in sheeps clothing.

James

Signature Memetic Virus--The worst enemy of those who now or will need medical
care is the uninformed politician or moral fanatic who proscribe what doctors
are allowed to prescribe and research, with the consent of their patients. Those
who understand this are strongly encouraged to modify this to fit their
personality, and add this to their signature file, and organize to recover our
freedom from Big Brother. For those who wait until they are sick, it will be too
late. Those who suffer from diseases which might have been cured by advanced
medical research or schedule 1 drugs banned by Big Brother, have the right to
hold accountable those who sat on their hands or worse, deferred their
responsibility for personal and humanity's survival to unseen mystical agents,
while they remained ill and dying.
