Cryonics has badly needed research since it began. There are many many problems which need to be solved before we can even be confident that we will be revivable (ie. alive) after suspension. Any scrutiny of an electron micrograph of frozen brain should tell us that (yes, it will also give us ideas for how to fix the injuries we see .... but we haven't fixed them yet, have we?). And of course that question is only the first one in a long series. The future is NOT a place to which we travel. We MAKE the future by our own actions --- or we get to watch others make it. The major class of actions for which (for whatever reason, good or bad) cryonicists have generally been lacking is RESEARCH. Petty squabbles should not occur among us on this issue: our true enemy is Death itself, and squabbling rather than facing this enemy only pushes us toward its victory.
