Global warming #23094 states something which seems very reasonable:

I used to argue this, suggest to friends we buy frozen tundra with the view of 
farming it many years hence (or making our heirs wealthy).  However, if I recall
correctly, when I read the literature, it seems that great amounts of CO2 are 
released from the frozen ground as it thaws which just adds to the problem.
