Subject: Assisted suicide.....

My apologies to John de Rivaz and everyone else who followed the link I

posted yesterday but it was late and I cut and pasted the wrong one.
Incidentally
for those who haven't been following it..... Lord Joffes private bill for
legalised assisted suicide in Britain made the first stage on it's way through
the House of Lords in June of last year.

It still has a way to go tho',. However, their is reason for optimism as he
claims that in recent polls, 80% of brits said they were in favour of the
patient having the final say. Can any political party ignore such an

overwhelming majority in favour of a 'pro-choice' policy? Bearing in mind
just
how out of touch the two main parties over here are with yer average Joe they

probably think they can afford to ignore public opinion. It is encouraging that
if it is recommended to the house it will at least force the MP's to discuss
the issue in parliament which will help to give it more media attention.
Could maybe even make the statute book if the media run with it and the public
continue to demonstrate their support.

It is now down to the select committee to investigate the issue and hopefully
recommend it to parliament. Anyways.... here is the correct link.

Regards.....

Tim.
