Subject: Robert Stump: What Alcor is up agaqinst

Not just your random Arizona state representative, he
appears to be a poster boy for the current political
trend in Luddite "conservatism". But there's more. I
direct your particular attention to:

"His father, Bob Stump, was active in Republican
politics in California and Hawaii and founded Stump
Mortuary, in Pasadena, California."

Representative Robert Stump

Praised by Citizens for Arizona Policy as "one of
Arizona's most articulate and eloquent champions of
conservative ideals," State Representative Bob Stump
was appointed, as a freshman, to four of the most
influential committees in the legislature: Ways &
Means, Commerce & Military Affairs, Financial
Institutions & Insurance and Health (Vice-Chair).

Representative Stump also serves on the Interagency
Council on Long-Term Care and the Interim Committee on
Welfare Reform. He has already received three awards
for his legislative service: The 2003 award from the
Alzheimer's Association in recognition of his support
in combating Alzheimer's Disease; the Arizona Family
Project's "Friend of the Family" award for
demonstrating "a strong commitment to strengthening
Arizona's families and promoting pro-family values and
ideals"; and the "Friend of the Taxpayer" award from
the Arizona Federation of Taxpayers Association, in
recognition of his commitment to Arizona's taxpayers.

Representative Stump comes from a family of small
businessmen who assumed leadership roles in their
community. His father, Bob Stump, was active in
Republican politics in California and Hawaii and
founded Stump Mortuary, in Pasadena, California. His
grandfather, Robert A. Stump, owned a cafe in Alma,
Michigan. Representative Stump's mother, Jane Barr
Stump, was a Realtor and an instructor in infant
psychiatry at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns
School of Medicine and Tripler Army Medical Center.
She also served for years as a member of the
Neighborhood Board of Hawaii Kai, in Honolulu.

Representative Stump's grandfather on his mother's
side, Thomas Calhoun Barr, founded Trinity
Presbyterian Church, in Nashville, TN.

Before seeking public office, Representative Stump
worked as a magazine editor, reporter and photographer
for leading national magazines and local newspapers in
Honolulu, Washington, D.C., and Tucson. He now works
in real estate.

Representative Stump has also served as a Manhattan
Institute research associate to author and former
George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum; as an aide to
Fox News's Fred Barnes and William Kristol, the former
Chief of Staff to Vice President Dan Quayle; and as a
speechwriter and consultant to Republican candidates
and officeholders in Arizona.

Representative Stump holds degrees from Harvard
University, where he studied political philosophy with
columnist George F. Will, and the University of
California at Berkeley, from which he graduated with
high honors. A lifelong Republican, he has volunteered
for over a dozen Republican campaigns and has served
in a variety of leadership positions with the Arizona
Young Republican League, including First Vice Chair
and Southern Regional Director. Representative Stump
served as Honorary Chair for the Cancer Society's
Relay for Life last year. Most recently,
Representative Stump founded the West Valley
Republican Issues Forum, which hosts candidate forums
during the campaign season.

Good luck.

Best, Jeff Davis

"Our father was not a religious man. The faith that
many people place in God, we place in science and
other human endeavors."
