So it isn't (It is Sweden -- I always thought it was Sweden not Norway that
didn't join) . But maybe it would still be easier for Trygve to start his
facility in the UK than in the USA.

But I suppose the rise in terrorism is inevitably going to see an enormous
increase in xenophobia amongst ordinary people as well as those who have
gained positions of authority. That is exactly the effect that terrorists
want and are getting. I seem to remember that when South Africa was a
"pariah nation" restrictions of movement was one of the complaints people
made about its government.

This is not good news for cryonics. Because there are so few cryonicists in
the entire world, the more compartmentalisation there is the harder is it
for the concept to grow.

If current trends continue, soon it may not even be possible to move from
one county to another within the same country without going through an
enormous regulatory hoop. It should be borne in mind that today it is
quicker to get to the other side of the world than it was to get from
Penzance to London before the age of the railways. Yet before the age of the
railways you could move from Penzance to London or visa versa without having
to get permits and so on.

If movement restrictions do increase to the county level, and cryonics
doesn't grow to the points there are hundreds of cryonicists in every town,
then the cryonics concept will be put under greater pressure.
