Son hopes to freeze parents PRINT FRIENDLY EMAIL STORY
      The World Today - Friday, 19 March , 2004 12:42:56
      Reporter: Nick Grimm
HAMISH ROBERTSON: A man who wants to freeze his parents after they
die - and put their bodies into storage in a purpose built underground
chamber on his property, is presenting something of a challenge for the
local planning authorities.

Philip Rhoades has instructed his lawyers to lodge a zoning
application with the local shire council at Cowra, in central west New South
Wales, so he can keep his mum and dad close by, until the day comes when he
can have them re-animated with the help of nanotechnology.

      Nick Grimm reports.

NICK GRIMM: Philip Rhoades wants to see his parents stone cold dead
sometime in the not-too-distant future.

But before anyone gets the wrong idea, it's not that Mr Rhoades wishes
ill of his mum and dad who are only aged in their 70s.

In fact, he wants them to live forever with him.
