Subject: What is the PNAC?

Shouldn't the 9/11 Commission ask questions about the PNAC? It was briefly
brought up on Dateline a couple of weeks ago during the Rumsfeld interview -
briefly, maybe all of 7 seconds. No one really knows what it is, yet. It has
not yet been exposed. It reveals the frame of mind of key people in the Bush
Administration, some may even see a motive for allowing a tragedy like 9/11 to
occur.

The 'Project for a New American Century' (PNAC) is a 90 page document that
outlines a radical new strategy for American military and foreign policy. It was
published in September of 2000 - two months before the presidential election,
and a full year before the events of 9/11.

The PNAC was commissioned by several individuals who later came to play key
roles in the Bush administration - including Rumsfeld, Cheney and Wolfowitz -
and now guides current U.S. foreign policy. Anyone interested in understanding
U.S. policy is sure to find a study of this document invaluable.

A full year before the events of 9/11, it described the need for a new "Pearl
Harbor" if the monumental policy changes that it envisions were to quickly be
put into effect.

This group was keen on expanding America's military, but they knew that they
could not achieve the requisite "transformation", without the required "specific
missions" and extreme circumstances. They needed an attack on American soil and
a subsequent war in order to enact their vision.

They got it.

Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the crew had plans to attack Iraq and "finish
what was started in the Gulf" as early as 1998.

To quote the PNAC: "the US has for decades sought to play a more prominent role
in Gulf region security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the
immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in
the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein" (page 26).
Indeed, this is the real reason behind the war in Iraq.

This is not a "conspiracy". The authors of these documents and promoters of
these policies have never hidden their intentions or their plans for increased
military budgets and global rule. They are all published, and freely available,
on their website.
