X-Message-Number: 24040 From: "Omnedon" <> Subject: Freedom of speech Date: Tue, 4 May 2004 04:55:16 -0500 Hi WOR, I have been on boards since the early 80s, and believe that the moderator has the right to say how it is run. It is to the guests to decide whether they stay and enjoy, or go to another forum, or even start their own. (There are other great forums, nothing wrong with that.) But if the moderator does not have some boundaries, the place is bound to get trashed now and then. Feel free to differ in opinion, but I personally do not perceive Cryonet to be a democracy. If it were, then demands for freedom of speech would certainly be warranted. Cryonet does a better job than most of keeping the topics relevant, believe it or not. It has to, considering how one has to read the digest. Otherwise, it becomes too tedious for me to read daily. I cannot skip an irrelevant post in the digest with just a keystroke, as I can with other forums. (This, by itself, tends to keep out some of the riff-raff.) Do not get me wrong, I vehemently detest censorship, and believe fully in freedom of speech. But here I am essentially on private property, and prefer to conduct myself as a proper guest. If I did not like it, I would have left. Forgive me if I have gone somewhat off topic... ;) Who knows? This post could be 'censored', but it is not for me to say. I probably shouldn't post after 4AM subjective time anyway. I hope I was not too incoherent... Aloha, www.BladesOfLegend.com Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=24040
