Member > "Aloha" > > When I wrote my post my gadets had only just arrived and were yet unpacked so I hadn't had opportunity to read the manuals yet. However, not all is lost. From the manual it says that of the 22 frequencies these use less than half are requiring a license. Now I don't know if they'll simply anticipate my use and require it regardless but I plan to stay below freq. 15 denoted as just FRS, 15 and above that up to 22 is GMRS. This is of course unless I have an emergency that requires anyone available in earshot of any walkie talkie in my area to come to my aid in which case channel 20 is that ER channel. This last capability is actually an added bonus come to think of it. Here is the chart. It sounds as if you are a bit more impaired than I as far as arm use goes. Unfortunately these do require a push-to-talk button to be pressed and they have others that are difficult enugh for me to knuckle about for changing frequency and switching modes. However, I bet that an electronics gadgeter could adapt them to your needs. If you are managing a roller mouse you have some button pressing capability for clicking, yes? But maybe it is best kept to near your hand rather than reaching? Here are some links to adaptive devices availabe. Unfortunately many can be quite expensive. There are even brain wave activation devices. Here are some url's to explore. Email me privately I'm sure we can brainstorm something. I'm good at adapting stuff to custom uses. http://www.mindmaker.com/ http://www.mindmaker.com/newcom/ http://enablingdevices.com/home.aspx?session=adult http://enablingdevices.com/viewproduct.aspx?id=235&session=adult Just found this. It apparently allows one to make a wish list that someone may later find that feels capable of helping. http://216.114.78.114/webcenter/sites/accessable/TwoCol.asp?SID=4317&N=On-Line%20Store this is thier home page http://216.114.78.114/webcenter/sites/accessable/Home.asp?SID=4176&N=Home Unfortunately I just failed at an attempt to contact these folks both email and phone. Something is wrong with their email address DNS and the phone is fast busy so maybe stear clear for now. Here we go! Here is a huge page of links for assistive tech. http://www.vcu.edu/rrtcweb/techlink/iandr/links/AT.htm The kinds of tech I have in mind are mind link mice and switching capabilities both mind linked and elbo or cheek pad activated adapted to the comm device. Note: It seems my folks would have preferred the pendant devices but there was no way of knowing this before hand. This is probably due to the bulkiness of the wrist comms and wishing to have hands free for messy work that might damage the device. Well I hope this gets you started. Maybe you're already well aware of these sources, I have no way of knowing. But I'd be happy to help wherever possible. I'm rather inventive and have desgined a ton of things for my own use whether devices or just methods for getting by with limited arm movemnts and paralyzed hands. Please contact me.
