Google for "grg supercentenarian" turns up a page that leads to the supercentenarian list at http://www.bol.ucla.edu/~scoles/Adams/E.HTM. >... however, L. Stephen >Coles, MD, PhD, co-founder of the 'Los Angeles Gerontology Research >Group' was listed here: > >http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/jlradvisors.html To be specific, the web page is about Glenn Braswell, and Coles is listed on that web page as an advisor of Braswell back in 1997. The web page also says "Braswell is known to have used people's names and pictures without their authorization". There's nothing negative there about Coles other than the fact that Coles apparently advised Braswell until 1997. The relationship of "advisor" would seem to involve little culpability, since if the only advice Coles gave Braswell was "don't do that", and Coles was ignored, then Coles was still an advisor to Braswell. >His claimed association with UCLA appears to have expired, if it ever >existed. He is not found in the UCLA directory. I agree that searching for Coles at http://www.directory.ucla.edu/ doesn't give results. His email address is scoles at ucla.edu, and the Gerontology Research Group mailing list is hosted at grg at lists.ucla.edu. I don't know what his present relationship with UCLA is. His signature on posts to the mailing list gives the URL http://www.grg.org, but DNS can't resolve that name. I've cc'd this email to Coles so he'll know www.grg.org is unreachable and he can clear up questions about his credentials if he wants to. I don't know that he's on the cryonet list, so his reply may not get there. I'll forward for him if he asks me to, or he can temporarily join the list and post himself. -- Tim Freeman GPG public key fingerprint ECDF 46F8 3B80 BB9E 575D 7180 76DF FE00 34B1 5C78 Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=24325
