Backpack allows remote emergency diagnosis

A British firm has developed a backpack that sends detailed medical
information to emergency response teams when wearers get into difficulty.
TVZ's SOS system transmits the patient's blood pressure, temperature, pulse
and photograph to the nearest International SOS Centre.
It gathers the information via sensors attached to the patient's body. It
then sends the data via a satellite phone incorporated into the backpack.
International SOS staff receiving emergency data can assess the patient's
condition and offer advice by voice or text message.
TVZ is marketing the device to international broadcasters with journalists
and camera teams in war zones.
TVZ director Pete Henderson told the Straits Times: "The water-resistant
unit is very user-friendly and is designed specifically to be operated by
non-medically trained personnel."
International SOS operates a chain of emergency response centres around the
world.
