Music has a great effect on the emotions, and there are strong emotions both for and against cryonics. Good music in cryonicists' favour won't do to the same extent as good research, but it will support good research inasmuch as it may tip the balance of public opinion both to sign up and allow the research to continue unhindered. It is highly unlikely that because some people have posted a few articles about music that research will go undone. How many highly successful films have ghastly music behind them? A good musical sound track will make people want to watch the same film more than once, and can also be part of the show in directing viewers emotions and thereby make the product a success. People reading this list who understand how the brain works may even be able to shed some light on the technicalities as to how people's behaviour is influenced by music. Personally I would like to see some composers on the list writing and dedicating music to cryonics concepts, both in popular and classical styles. Some could even be offered as midi files on cryonics support sites, such as http://www.venturist.org -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=24465
