Subject: re: oil crisis

The thing that compounds the oil crisis:
Disposable income(i.e. after taxes, housing,
transportation and insurance) has been declining in
the US for over 30 years--to the point that two income
families now have the disposable income one income
families did 30 years ago. IMHO what this is largely
related to: frontier societies tend to be high wage
societies--and the social institutions in the US were
created as part of a frontier society.

Gasoline prices are I would agree a small part of the
phenomena here-but oil tends to be a centrally
controlled commodity associated with various
international interests.
