Despite being a member of ALCOR, I'm still very sorry that politics has now broken out in ACS also. For a long time Alcor has suffered from being the best provided cryonics society. I say suffered advisedly, because with no competition it has slowly started to become schlerotic. This bothers me, but as yet there seems little I can do. So now ACS and TT are at loggerheads, and once more the lack of competition continues. As for Alcor, I do want to make clear that I respect the intentions and abilities of its current Board. But there is an underlying current which has nothing to do with individuals. Alcor has needed competition for a long time --- NOT opposition (easy to find!) but competition. Being a monopoly is INHERENTLY corrupting; the only thing that high character in the members of the Board of a monopoly organization can do is to slow down that corruption. So what do we have. In the face of our enemy (not a person, but Death itself) ACS and TT have fallen to squabbles over trivia. Best wishes and a long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2491
