The difference between cryonics and the subject of most cults is that a cult
actually requires you do no nothing more than recruit people to go to
meetings where everyone agrees with each other that they are right and the
rest of the world is wrong.

On the other hand cryonics requires you to make difficult arrangements and
spend a fixed amount of money (not in proportion to the member's ability to
pay). In many cases, even with CI, the money required for life insurance is
still a large part of the income of some members. People who see the logic
of cryonics aren't all middle class.

Most cults fail, and just a very few go on to become religions that persists
for centuries even millennia.

It is just the same as the fact that most singers, sportspeople, artists
authors and so on never have a career except in their dreams. Most of those
that get beyond this have very mediocre careers, and it is a very tiny
proportion that get to the top.
