Suppose you are anesthetised and put through an atom for atom copying process. You are then painlessly killed and buried with royal honours. You were not told you would be killed, or you were but believed you would awaken in the copy's body. Your copy then wakes up with a mind of its own. You are gone, and can't even realise it. Your copy is perfectly happy, as are any ignorant friends and relatives. Are the notions of original and copy still unimportant to you?
