For Bob Ettinger:

I know you're criticising Mike's views and not mine. However I will
say here that even the simplest notions involve assumptions about
how our selfhood, identity, or QE work, and those assumptions should
be worked out and questioned. Not so long ago, most believed that
the Earth was the center of the Universe, based on their personal
sense of the question. Even longer ago, they thought that the
Earth was flat (I refer not to the Middle Ages or even classical
times but to primitive ideas about cosmology). For that matter,
most people believe intuitively that our lifespans should have a
(pitifully) small length.

To say that some idea fits our intuition raises in my mind a
strong taint of questioning.

Best wishes and long long life to all,

              Thomas Donaldson
