X-Message-Number: 2542 From: (Thomas Donaldson) Subject: CRYONICS Re: Funding Research Date: Tue, 11 Jan 1994 21:52:13 -0800 (PST) Me again! I must point out about Edgar Swank's message that I got my facts quite wrong about the relationships of Biopreservation and 21st Century Medicine. I did NOT give any money to Biopreservation. And in a previous message, I apologized for my error, especially since it implied conclusions which I do not hold and do not which to imply. And I REPEAT that apology for anyone who was not listening the first time. While it is true that I am quite unhappy with the response of the cryonics community to requests for funds for research, people like Mike and Paul do NOT fall under the class of cryonicists with whom I am unhappy. Not only that, but I believe that work on brain vitrification should take very high priority for funding by cryonicists --- not because of its social effects, but because it will save their LIVES. And of all cryonicists, Mike Darwin has come forward the strongest in favor of brain vitrification. Come on, guys. Do you REALLY want your brains to end up full of small cracks, with the cracked pieces moved just enough to make it problematic whether you can be revived? Is that really your goal in all these preparations? In terms of behavior, to an outsider it looks like that is exactly your goal. Best to all, and long long lives, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2542
