Subject: Magnetic Resonance Freezing
From: <>

To clarify some misconceptions, magnetic resonance freezing is
*not* a method of flash freezing, so infusing people with metal
particles (?!?!) would not be beneficial or improve the results of
the method.

MRF is intended to prevent the crystallization of hydrogen
molecules, which are the cause of freezing and hence much (most?)
cellular damage. It achieves this by imparting rotational energy to
the molecules (each hydrogen molecule acts like a little magnet),
while simultaneously reducing translational energy.

It seems like MRF (as well as microwave freezing at an energy
targeted specifically to water molecules---10 Ghz) would be a good
target for vitrification research. The elecromagnets would not be
cheap, however.
