  I forgot to mention the other day, please don't be deterred

  just a technicality and is no big deal.  You can put in any
  name you like as long as it isn't already used, and whatever
  email address you want, even if it doesn't really work.

  You can read the posts without signing up.  You can post
  without signing up, except that the moderator has to send
  your post along.  I think he has it set up this way to
  discourage spam.
