I too think it likely that my wife will take another companion. But that isn't
really what would disturb me. What would disturb me is that she would not
survive. It is not that I would not be able to hold on to her, but that
she would be gone forever for ANYONE. I feel this way not because of my
relations with her but because I have come to care for her, regardless.

You may say that I delude myself. Perhaps that is true: only time will give the
answer to that one. It's clear that not all cryonicists feel as I do;
if they did, their friends and lovers would certainly become far more 
restricted. And I know of myself that I'm happy to WORK WITH someone who is
not a cryonicist, but there is always some lack of commonality that keeps
them from becoming close friends. Some of these people may even consider them-
selves my friends.

I do know of myself that I've never made close friends easily. So as I say,
this is not a statement of what should be but what is.
