The Cryonics Society of Canada's Toronto Summer Party will be at my
house near Woodbine and Danforth on Saturday, 25 June 2005, from 3:30
P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and beyond. There will be a business phase and a
social phase, broken down roughly as follows:

Gee, this sounds like great fun, Allan...sorry it is a bit far for me from
Florida! :)

I heartily applaud Allan and others who have "stepped up to the plate" an
are taking a leadership role in developing local cryonics support groups.

Several years ago, I was the organizer for a "Southeast Cryonics Gathering"
held in Orlando. Jerry Lemler, at the time the CEO of ALCOR, even came out
to provide the latest in information. He stayed at our house as an honored

guest of Dawn and I. And we had a blast! And learned a lot from each other.
And developed a friendship and respect that lasts till this day.

The development of social support groups with local or even semi-local
cryonicists and potential cryonicists is, IMHO, hugely important. And sadly

overlooked in many cases. The ALCOR/Cryonics conference scheduled at one time
for
August 12 through 14 is not happening this year.

I would like to pull a gathering together in Florida...perhaps late Summer
or early Fall. And see if we could get an Alcor or CI or SA person(s) as a
draw.

Alternately, Suspended Animation has a new facility, or perhaps is

developing one...in South Florida (About 5 hours south of me...Florida is a long

state). Perhaps this would be a good venue, as well as a chance for SA to
display
their progress.

Since there is no OFFICIAL cryonics gathering this year...the putative
conference this Summer is not happening, two things become obvious:

1. We as activists need to develop our own gatherings, and

2. We should endeavor to attend functions of forward thinking, exciting
thought leaders with purposes overlapping that of cryonicists.

Regarding number 2 above, some of you may know about the World Transhumanist
Association gathering in Carracas, Venezuela in late July. Google WTA for
details.

And, I would like to see HUGE participation in the IMMORTALITY INSTITUTE
conference in ATLANTA to be held November 4 and 5. Go to imminst.org for
details. (I am honored to be speaking on...surprize..."The Affordable
Immortal...Why and How Cryonics is Economically Viable for Almost Everyone")

Atlanta is easy and cheap to get to from anyplace, especially in the eastern
US. (A continuous joke in the Eastern US is that even people dead and en
route to heaven or hell are routed with a layover in Atlanta...I understand
this to be supported hard science, and extensive evidence :))

The lineup of speakers and attendees at this conference looks great. I

believe this will be the FIRST Immortalist Institute conference. Wouldn't this

be a rather good "club" to be a "Charter member" of? Fifty or a hundred years
from now, won't it be fun to be laughing and visiting with fellow

visionaries who you met at this conference? People at the "leading bleeding
edge" are
just plain FUN to be around! (Well, most of 'em anyway...we'll leave the
exceptions aside for now.)

Also, most of you may know about the FORSIGHT INSTITUTE Senior Associate
gathering October 22 and 23.
forsight.org for details.

In short, let's get together, have fun, learn from each other, and develop
the networks that may save your life, or the lives of those you care about.
Doesn't this sound like an enjoyable and yet necessary curriculum?

Respectfully submitted,
