Subject: Cross linking can be reversed

"Firstly, cross-linking of structural proteins seems to be dramatically
reversed by a chemical called ALT-711, or, more technically,
phenacyldimethylthiazolium chloride, which restores the arteries, cartilage,
and skin of experimental animals to youthful elasticity and is currently in
clinical trials (16). "

inhibitors and breakers of
AGE protein cross-links. Expert Opin. Investig. Drugs 10, 1977-1987 (2001).

The above quote is from A. de Grey. If cross linking can be reversed. Why
just do freezing? Clearly freezing plus cross linking is better. If there is
an increase in temperature cross linking can be a life saver.
