Hello Yvan, again:

First of all, in your message comparing computing with chips versus
computing with brains, you may have come up with an explanation for the
practical superiority of brains. Energy efficiency, you say, is 10
million times worse in the computer than in brains. Speed isn't always
an advantage.

You also, however, seem to have mistaken something I said. I hardly
claimed that nematodes were bacteria. I know the difference very well.
The question I raised came from their difference from mammals, and
in particular humans. I doubt longevity results with nematodes and
not just with insects: nematodes may be closer than fruit flies,
but so are many other living things. They're just not close enough.

You also misunderstand my comments about one neuron per processor.
I say this because each neuron acts differently, and when they're
all working at the same time multitasking will fail, simply because
in any single processor, it doesn't do everything at the same time
but at different times. If you wish to verify this by building a
computer using single processors to imitate many neurons, be my
guest. I'm just saying it won't work.

Best wishes and long long life to all,

                       Thomas Donaldson
