Subject: SURVEY: How many full sign-ups did you think CI had?

Here is a link to very short survey that is meant to
indicate approximately what we've all been thinking
as having been the CI membership level.

Please take a minute to do this, if you will. You'll
also be able to view the realtime results to see what
others have been thinking. Of course, this isn't
strictly scientific but rather a rough approximation
meant to generate some clues.

The essence of the problem is centered on the
definition of what a "member" "is" (and perhaps on the
definition of "is"). In general parlance, a "member"
of a cryonics organization would be someone who is
"signed up to be preserved". CI has crafted an
alternative definition so that a non-obvious
distinction must be made between merely "supporting"
member and "fully funded" members". Only the "fully
funded members" are "actually" signed up to be
preserved so I call them "actual members" or "real
members". CI calls them "fully funded members" or
"full sign-ups". CI's unexpected distinction seems to
have caused a general misperception and awareness of
the CI "fully funded members" or "actual members"
figure which is "actually" 211 as of July 2005. This
is lower than what I thought it was a few weeks ago.
Is it lower than you thought? Take the survey and let
me and other readers know. Thanks.
