Apparently, when you and Mr. Ettinger refer to "members" it is in a different frame of reference. For the sake of consistency, lets all identify a "member" as someone fully signed up and funded. Any body else who has shown interest but is not funded or signed up can be a "supporting member", and anyone who has actually started their paperwork towards becoming a "member" may be called an "applicant" if that is all right with you. So, when Mr Ettinger discusses CI's rapid growth rate, apparently his count includes the "supporting member" type, which by itself is a larger group than the " member" group.
