Subject: The Wakfers and Anonymity

"How absolute the knave is! We must speak by the card, or equivocation
will undo us."

That line from the gravedigger scene of Hamlet springs to mind
whenever I read anything by Kitty Antonik Wakfer. She seems to spend
her time grasping at some ideal of mind-numbing exactness, to the
point where the actual subject at hand (to say nothing of style)
drowns in nitpicky prolixity. Now, in the same vein, the Wakfers want
to do away with anonymity, requiring a ridiculously detailed resume
before they will hear from anybody, including: "partner status -
romantic and business, present and past ... residence status and
location - own or rent ... legal actions taken ... sense of life
statement ... life experiences ... character evaluations," etc. Just
imagine how useful this kind of disclosure would be for the flow of
information at, say, the discussion boards of the Shroomery,
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/ubbthreads.php

I suppose Kitty would say that one should simply stay away for now
from activities which the authorities do not approve of, because
everything should be kept out in the open, and then "eventually a
society will come about in which members peacefully and gradually
reduce the amount of outside coercion that currently prevents its
optimal functioning." Yeah, right. This is incredibly naive and
ignores the realities of the world, in my opinion.
