Before I realised what he is like, I agreed to correct the English
used by Mr Despres in connection with an article he wanted to put on his web
site. He then emailed me and asked whether I minded if he used my name as
editor of the article. I replied that I preferred not, and he emailed again
to say that he was going to do it anyway.

I have since noted that he has persistently tried to associate the names of
various people with his money making endeavours, the latest being Alcor and
their web pages about cracking. Despres' web page on this subject is also
advertised on this CryoNet digest and links to Alcor's site and then gives
his own name and postal address as the recipient of donations towards
research into this problem.

If he is serious about supporting cryonics, I urge him to go and earn money
somewhere else with some totally honest and principled endeavour and then
make appropriate arrangements with a cryonics service provider. Cryonics may
be expensive, but it is not a get rich scheme and never will be.
