Subject: Creekside a Haven for Cryonics Refugees?

In a post above, "The mobility crisis has begun," in today's Cryonet
digest, Mark Plus, ever concerned about non-USA cryonicists' risk of
becoming "all froze up and nowhere to go," quotes an article about American
Airlines, an already nearly-bankrupt company, and their plan to
-temporarily- suspend 15 of their flights supposedly due to the price of fuel.

Well. Whether this planned action is really indicative of the start of any
real "mobility crisis" is certainly a subject for debate. It could really
be more indicative of a cash-starved company trying to arouse public
sentiment to get fuel prices back down to where they belong. In that I
applaud them. It would also help my own cash-starved wallet to fill up the
tank in my car. But, it could also be mainly a downsizing strategy to cut
out a few costlier and less profitable routes, and blame it on the price of
fuel. This is a normal business practice.

As to fuel, though, skyrocketing fuel prices are, after all, entirely a
product of political influences (mainly prominent politicians with
interests and investment in the oil companies), coupled with an unbridled
"free economy" where the oil companies can conspire to keep the prices as
high as they want, at least until people almost stop buying fuel
altogether. "Supply" is determined by the oil companies themselves and
their investment/noninvestment in drilling and refineries. It has
absolutely nothing to do with the actual availability of the natural
resources, of which more are being discovered and reported on in the media
every day.

But, let's for a moment explore the scenario that hordes of non-USA
cryonicists decide to come by boat or whatever airplanes are left, to
America, in order to be near the cryonics providers so that when their
"time comes," their portable ice baths can avoid waiting at Heathrow or
Charles de Gaulle several days for a "standby flight" ( I know, low
grooooan). Where are they going to go once they get here? Will Creekside,
Plus' last reported place of employment, take them in? Would $100 a night
be too low a price to charge these near-charity cases? And finally, could
Plus kindly recommend to us a good real estate agent, so they can get
permanent housing? If not, no surprise, as Plus is typically long on
problems and short on solutions.
