Subject: More on missle sites etc

HI everyone!

I'm glad that Steve Bridge saw fit to comment on the missle-site
idea. I'll also point out that he wasn't saying just what I was
saying, though I suspect that even if a cryonics organization had
the money it would be far more likely to put its facility closer
to an existing town than at any missle base --- for the reasons
I gave in my last message.

Making a facility which isn't just separated, but actually able
to withstand a large physical attack, looks to me like something
much farther in the future still... and something even more
expensive. (You'd have to provide not just liquid nitrogen but
everything else the inhabitants would need for at least a year
and ideally longer).

Finally, to make my own opinion on this issue clear, I will add
that I myself would prefer a cryonics facility to be
semi-independent and far away from any other human locations.
It would need more than a few people to keep going, of course.
However I strongly doubt that such a facility is anywhere
close to possibility in anything like the "near future", based
on just how cryonicists behave now (who on Cryonet will give
up their job to go live in the wilderness?).

T he best thing cryonicists can do NOW is to think of ways to
make our existing sites both safer and more accessible to
cryonicists.

Best wishes and long long life for all,

              Thomas Donaldson
