Subject: Life Extension Values Clarification Survey -- PLEASE DISTRIBUTE!!
Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2006 22:28:06 US/Eastern

The "production version" of my Life Extension Values Clarification
Survey is now on my website:

http://www.benbest.com/lifeext/LE_Survey.php

I believe that this survey is a good tool for promoting life extension
and cryonics by causing people to re-think their assumptions or raise
their consciousness about issues they had not considered.

I request/suggest that cryonicists and life extensionists post the
survey URL to the relevant (health, life-extension, etc.) newsgroups,
discussion lists, chats, websites, etc., and/or send in e-mail messages
to acquaintances as a means of raising awareness about life extension
and cryonics. If you have not taken one of the earlier surveys you
might want to try it, but otherwise there is not much point in doing
so again.

This new survey has already been posted to my website for a few
weeks and as of this writing has just reached 100 respondents:

The responses can be compared to my earlier surveys of cryonicists

Insofar as the new survey was taken by visitors to my website the
responses would be expected to be more intellectual and pro-life
extension than one would expect from the general population. Nonetheless,
the responses are noticeably different from those given by the
cryonicists who took my earlier surveys.

There are only 4 signed-up cryonicists among the respondents as opposed
to 64 on my earlier survey) and about half of the respondents say they have
"No Desire" for cryonics arrangements. No one answered "No Desire" for
cryonics in my earlier survey. Twenty respondents give cryonics "No Chance" of
working, whereas no one had chosen "No Chance" in the survey of cryonicists.
Although there are more male respondents than female, the gender ratio is
much closer to even than the ten-to-one male-to-female ratio seen in the
cryonicists surveys. The ratio is also more nearly even between those who
definitely believe in God and those who don't. Of those who have chosen to
comment, most have negative things to say about life extension and cryonics.
