Her life insurance was used up by medical care costs.
The term the industry uses is "viatical payments". I
outline a little of that here... [+. The way I figure
it, Walter has power of attourney over Marce and
consigned what was left of her assets to help pay for
her expensive hospital care-- and unwisely tapped into
her life insurance... which at one time must have
listed CryoCare as the beneficiary.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well, we do not know if that is what happened. It is
not clear from the posts on CF and Cryonet what
exactly is the situation with respect to the
insurance. But if Marce's policy were OWNED by Alcor
(as mine is -- I just make the payments--this is now
alcor's policy; marce must have gotten in before they
made that the policy), then there would no way for
anyone to reach marce's policy to pay down in any way.
This is a GOOD THING. Also, I plan in the near future
to see if I can make a lump sum payment (perhaps about
$25K) to my life insurance equity so that the payments
are made automatically by interest from the
accumulated equity in the policy. THat way you get a
self-sustaining policy thatr makes its own payments,
owned by ALcor, unreachable by anyone for any sort of
paydown or asset acquisition, such as judgments from
lawsuits or for Medicare asset attachment.

Also, I plan to buy a lifetime membership in Alcor.
Costs about 25K lump sum, or you can even make
payments on a lifetime membership.

That way, if you have a stroke or Alzheimers or some
other medical problem that incapacitates you long
term, you have no worries financially.

So, I think it will cost me about 50K cash to LOCK IN
cryopreservation.

I hate to sound hardsh regarding a cryonics pioneer
like Marce, but she should have tried to look ahead.
At the least, perhaps she had some california real
estate that she and Walt could have used to help
themselves in this situation. I hope this crisis can
serve as a warning to us all. It should.

Of course there are also other tragic possibilities
that could prevent cryopreservation. For example,
death by accident or misadventure, which could call
for autopsy. But someone posted an article on Alcor
United the other day showing that only about 2% of all
deaths in America are autopsy subjects. Also it is
well established that about 80% of all
american/european deaths occur in hospital/hospice.

So there is your roadmap to cryopreservation.

To make that 50K cash, look to the stock market,
perhaps. There has been a downward trend lately, and
that could present buying opportunities.

SCANDAL? I doubt that....crisis, sure.

As to whether discussing marce's situation is any of
our business, Bon wrote:

What IS and is NOT our business is tricky business. to
determine. Have you ever noticed, Mark, that when it
comes to "money", that all of sudden, things are "not
our business". Doesn't that seem a little too
convenient for the people involved? In my book, if YOU
or anyone is asked for MONEY for a situation, that
makes that situation OUR business.

You maight have a point.

Other cryonicists don't respect me because I push
Lyndon Larouche's views on how we can increase the
fresh water supply of the world by dealinating ocean
water using advanced nuclear power plants. if THAT
engenders disrespect, then ultimatley its the "other
cryonicists" who will have lost respect in the history
books and among future cryonicists.

More nuke plants sound fine, but LaRouche is clearly a
scammer who preys upon and uses people. It only takes
a couple of minutes of watching video of him on google
to see that Larouche is almost pathologically full of
himself. Of course the same goes for many high profile
politicians, but they are able to hide it from the
public.

Think for YOURSELF.
