This is a response to Mike Darwin's message #2940.

Mike, from recent messages it appears that you are now Mr.
Etiquette-and-Politeness. Okay.. I believe that you showed poor
Netiquette, by responding to a message that appeared in a relatively small
forum (this mailing list) by posting your _response_ to the probably
larger readership of a Usenet newsgroup (sci.cryonics). It looked
manipulative of you to do that and it seems to me, as a sometime reader of
a variety of newsgroups, that such a habit will not show you in the best
light.

As to the allegation of rudeness: During a discussion on CryoNet a few
months ago ("the bleach affair") you took the position, in effect, that it
is proper to flay people in public in pursuit of the truth. I have learned
much from your various messages. All of your personae, Mike, are very
instructive, even if the lessons learned are not always those intended.

You go on to write:

>1) First lets talk about apples not organges. *You* started out by claiming I
>was secretly talking about Australia. I was not.

Well, in the earlier message #2840 you wrote:
...
>Thomas has

>certain experiences in Australia which no doubt bear this out. In fact, one of
>Thomas' cohorts from Australia sat in our reception area not long ago and went
>on with VENOM (that's capital V-E-N-O-M) about just this problem!

                                                                         ^^^^^^^^
                                                                         >tool you've got is a hammer you may be forced to view every problem as a nail,

[my emphasis added]

The explicit reference to place and thus the allusions to particular
people (juxtaposed as the paragraphs were) would be apparent to anyone
acquainted with the people. I disavow *any* notion that I am able to
perform major surgery - Alcor's Suspension Services Manager and/or our
much-respected mortician would do that. However, I am collecting equipment
for this.

And no, Mike, *I* don't think the world revolves around me, nor am I
inclined (as the saying has it) to read evil intent into a child's prayer.
*You* should take care to avoid being an electronic drunk driver.

Getting back to message #2940:
...
>In fact, I never said
>anything about Australia until *you* inserted yourself into the discussion.
                                ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
"Yeah, right." This is CryoNet, not MikeDarwinNet. Anyone with a modem can
subscribe and participate, so get used to it.

...

As the Duke of Wellington said, "publish and be damned."

Accepted. I tried to quote just the relevant words from your message but
because I do not understand all the issues involved I may have
unintentionally distorted the meaning. I, too, hate walls of quoted text
and try to avoid them.

As for the rest of your comments - the good, the bad and the ugly -
thanks.

Long life,
Robert
