Long before the nazis started to kill the Jews they killed several million 
disabled (including very old) people. First in gas chambers and then when 
the Catholic Church objected to the mass murder they ordered the doctors to 
kill them. The criteria to kill or not to kill was whether the disabled was 
of any use to the State. That is why mercy killing will never become 
popular. It has become a complex issue.
