Subject: SCI. CRYONICS new facility

Yesterday the Cryonics Institute completed purchase of its new building in
Clinton Township, Michigan, northeast of Detroit. Further details in the
upcoming September issue of THE IMMORTALIST, mailed in August.

We hope to move the patients there in October, and after we are settled in we
will have space, and perhaps time, for more research.

The biological research we want will probably be done mostly by scientists we
commission for that purpose, as Ukrainian scientists are doing a project for
us now, repeating and extending our trials of certain perfusion and
freeze/thaw procedures we used on sheep heads. But we may do some relatively
simple biological work ourselves, in addition to ongoing improvement of
storage.

Initial explorations will probably involve freeze-drying and morphostasis, to
ascertain whether enough information is retained to justify using such as
fall-backs or last-ditch cheapies.

The new storage research may center on rigid, open-cell foam, which has been
proven in principle but is not commercially available, and should provide
substantial improvements in economy.
