House Libertarian Leader Don Gorman (who is very popular) had no major party candidates file against him, but a write-in is possible, and he is reported to be building up a war chest. Contributions to his campaign can be sent to: P.O. Box 94, Deerfield, NH 03037. Andy Borsa and Finlay Rothhaus both face a full slate of major party opponents, but still plan to win. Since the three are incumbents, money spent on their campaigns would proabably be the most effective. As far as other races for NH state house, there is not much news, other than the number (73 total). Apparently the LPNH is using a kind of MIRV strategy on the major parties in NH - run lots of candidates, only a few of whom run active campaigns, but they won't know which ones are dangerous until it is too late. To find out, you'll probably have to ask them. Their number is 1-800-559-LPNH. Pennsylvania: Date: 94-08-09 08:46:08 EDT From: MOIR% Subj: Winnable Races In PA In 1994 To: WalkerBill Bill, Of the 29 races in Pennsylvania this fall I consider two winnable. Ken Krawchuk in the 153rd State Rep seat in Abington Montgomery Co, and Joe Lisowski in the 155th State Rep seat in Downingtown Chester Co. Both races have a campaign staff and an organization behind them. Both have demonstrated the ability to organize their volunteers to achieve results. On Primary Day (May 10) Ken had 28 volunteers work the polling places in his district, collecting over 1000 signatures for his nomination petitions. He only needed 300 to get on the ballot, and while many candidates in PA waited until July to get their signatures Ken was set in May and spent the summer planning his campaign. The remarkable statistic in Ken's petition gathering is that 20% of the Republicans and Democrats who voted in the May primary in his district signed his petition. Since then ken has appeared in parades in his home town, appeared in the papers several times and been invited to the League Of Woman Voters debates and debates set up by United We Stand America. The incumbent Republican is not running for re-election, and an independent is running making this a 4-way race for an open seat. Ken Krawchuk For State Rep 117 West Ave Elkins Park PA, 19117 1-800-842-8477 On Primary Day Joe Lisowski did not collect petition signatures, instead he mounted a write in campaign for the Democratic nomination in his district. With a team of volunteers Joe got over 300 write in votes in the Democratic primary to cross file himself as both a Democrat and a Libertarian. He is facing a Republican incumbent in a two way race. Joe has been planning this campaign since the fall of 1993 when he was endorsed by the Libertarian Party Of PA. Joe's campaign manager has run and won races for Republican candidates in Florida. The Chester county Libertarians held a fundraiser with Walter Williams that drew 200 people. Joe's literature is very professional and he is a hard campaigner. Joe Lisowski For State Rep 100 Swinehart Rd Downingtown PA, 19335 (610)942-4216 Dave Tartaglia of Chester Co LP: Both these candidates are aiming to win and I think both have a shot at it. Other campaigns in Pennsylvania will also make a strong showing: Carolann Hill running for State Senate in the 44th in Chester Co, Gene Baynes 38th State Senate seat in Pittsburgh and Tom Durborow for the 147th State Rep seat. (Tom and Joe's districts both overlap Carolann's.) Please forward this message to any interested parties. Contact me for more information or call the Libertarian Party Of Pennsylvania's office at 1-800-R-RIGHTS.
